How to use concentrated perfume oils (Attar)

Perfumes are the perfect way to personalize your beauty routine. From the signature fragrance you wear daily to the scent you choose for special occasions or a romantic evening with the one you love. Most of us are familiar with alcohol-based eau de parfum sprays, so you might be wondering what makes your new Swiss Arabian concentrated perfume oil unique? Once you make the switch to a CPO you will never go back!

Eau de parfums contain alcohol to help the scent rise and diffuse from your skin – yet it also causes it to evaporate faster. Perfume oils are concentrated and can last much longer because they do not contain alcohol. They are so intense that a tiny bottle can last you several months!

As we like to say, some fragrances last all day, and others stay with you forever! Your perfume oil will quickly become your signature scent. Dab a few drops on your wrist, behind your ears, and all your other pulse points. Remember – pulse points are the warmest points on your body so applying oils on these points will allow the fragrance to last longer and diffuse more. Let it sit for 5 minutes for the aromatics to bloom.

Due to their therapeutic value, oils are classified based on their ability to warm or cool the body. So you can also pick yours according to the season. It’s best to choose one made from ingredients that lower body temperature like jasmine, rose, and sandalwood for the summer, and heavier, warmer ingredients like oud or amber for the winter.

AN INTIMATE FRAGRANCE

If you enjoy perfume but don’t want your fragrance to diffuse around you or leave a heavy trail as you go about your day, CPOs are a better choice. As an oil it won’t evaporate in the air in the same manner as alcohol-based sprays, instead it will remain close to your skin.

While you will be able to enjoy your aroma, those around you may not notice your scent unless they are up close and personal. This makes your new fragrance an intimate option that you can select both for yourself to enjoy and as your date night scent. It also means you can easily wear your fragrance in professions where heavy perfumes are discouraged.

A PART OF OUR CULTURE

In the Arab world, using alcohol-free aromatic oils are not just a finishing touch for the morning wardrobe, but an essential part of life and religion. In preparation for her wedding, the bride is immersed in all sorts of perfume oils from head to toe – particularly musk based oils.

These aromatic blends extracted from natural ingredients like flower petals, musk, amber, saffron, oud, sandalwood and henna are an integral part of our culture.
