The opening is a delightful surprise—a sparkling, juicy burst of litchi and pink pepper, softened by a touch of bergamot. It’s bright, modern, and instantly inviting.

As it settles, the heart reveals its floral core. The peony adds a soft, dewy freshness, while a whisper of nutmeg provides a subtle, intriguing spice. The dry down is where the fragrance truly shines, melting into a serene, musky embrace with comforting vanilla and the fuzzy, fabric-soft warmth of Cashmeran. It’s a beautifully balanced journey that feels both luxurious and incredibly wearable.

The composition by the legendary Jean-Louis Sieuzac is masterful, creating a scent that is complex yet cohesive. However, if I could offer one heartfelt piece of feedback to the house, it would be this: please consider increasing the percentage of the Bulgarian rose in the heart.

The rose note here is beautiful—a true, romantic rose—but it feels like a brilliant supporting actor in a blend where it deserves top billing. In the current combination, its classic, deep, and slightly honeyed character is sometimes gently overshadowed by the peony and the sparkling top notes. Amplifying this gorgeous rose would elevate the entire fragrance, allowing its timeless soul to resonate more powerfully from the heart through to the base. It would transform an excellent perfume into an absolutely iconic one.

Even as is, Rose 01 is a fantastic fragrance—elegant, long-lasting, and uniquely compelling. It’s a must-try for rose enthusiasts and anyone seeking a stylish, gender-fluid scent with real depth. I wear it with love and will continue to do so, all while hoping my one wish for a richer rose crescendo might someday come true. Highly recommended
